Fernandez-Lawrentz Construction Company, a international Co. dealing with
customers and employees from around the world, was incorporated in June
1994 Antonia (Toni) Fernandez is its sole shareholder, Antonia it one of
the very few woman and minority (Hispanic) owned general contracting firms
in the country. Prior to incorporating, Ms. Fernandez operated (as a sole
proprietor) a small fire board-up business while also taking classes to
obtain her builders license. She incorporated A. Fernandez-Lawrentz Construction
Company immediately after obtaining her license. A. Fernandez-Lawrentz Construction
Company began as a single-family residential and restoration contractor,
but has recently ventured into commercial and multi-family residential projects.
The company is a long-term member of the Construction Association of Michigan
(CAM). It is also a certified member of the Michigan Women’s Business
Council (MWBC), which is affiliated with the Women’s Business Enterprise
National Council (WBENC) and is a member of the Center for Empowerment and
Economic Development
(CEED). A. Fernandez-Lawrentz Construction Company’s corporate offices
are located at 7704 West Fort Street in Detroit, Michigan. The company purchased
the building approximately two years ago and, after fully restoring the
structure, moved in about six months later. This building of approximately
1,700 square feet is located in a certified HUB and an Empowerment Zone.
Located in the heart of Detroit it is ideally situated for easy and quick
access to City of Detroit restoration and revitalization projects. The company
also has smaller office in Westland.
